CPD Update
|
The EGTF CPD week in December 2006 was a great success with five days of events covering a number of fascinating topics to help any EGTF member become a better teacher. We started in Falkirk with Advanced Practice Drills on Day 1 and Video Analysis in Coaching on Day 2. They were both hosted by EGTF Staff Instructor and European Tour Coach, Stewart Craig, with fantastic input from one of Scotland's finest teachers, Frank Scott. Both days were full of the most of up to date information available in today's teaching world, and were put over superbly by Stewart and Frank.
We were lucky enough to have leading physiotherapist, Helen Thompson, on Day 3 explaining how many golf injuries occur and what we could do to help our students achieve their body's maximum potential in the golf swing.
On Day 4 I travelled down to Birmingham for the Full Swing Biomechanics Seminar with Dr Paul Hurrion, coach to Padraig Harrington and David Howell. To gain access to the type of information that Paul has on the biomechanics of the golf swing was a real treat for the EGTF Pro's who attended and I am sure that they will all look at the swing from a different perspective from now on.
My final trip was back up to Co Durham and Mount Oswald Manor for the talk on the changes in the coaching structure in the UK, with the new UK Coaching Certificate. EGTF Marketing Director, Nigel Galvin, who has been the driving force behind our accreditation and inclusion into the new award, was our speaker for the afternoon and presented those in attendance with all the latest information on the new structure coming into force in 2007.
My thanks go to all the instructors who did a fantastic job during the week and to the EGTF members who attended. Look out for other dates in 2007 and the chance to upgrade your knowledge even further.
