EGTF Professional, Ian MacLeod has recently been appointed Golf Instructor for Thomas Cook Golf Academy on the Costa Del Sol and is also now resident Professional at La Resina Golf and Country Club. Ian says, "La Resina Golf and Country Club is an executive par three, par four golf course designed to suit all standards of players. Situated in the secluded Resina Estate bordering Selwo Safari Park, facilities include a practice area with superb greens for pitching, putting and bunker play, with a luxury Spanish-style Club House set in beautiful landscaped gardens and lakes. An ideal venue for my Short Game Academy which I will continue to develop for both my local and Thomas Cook students. ************* EGTF Professional, Allan Renz who we featured in a Teacher Profile last year was recently promoted to Co-Head of Instructional Programs at Chelsea Piers golf complex in New York. Allan Renz ************* EGTF Professional, Peter Ledwidge who qualified in September 2006 has sent us this news from Mallorca. Peter says, "I turned Pro immediately after gaining my Diploma on 30 September 2006. I went to work straight away teaching all around Mallorca. Most courses were no go areas but I soon realised that if I took green fee paying customers, I could do what I liked. So up until recently I was scratching about doing playing lessons and even organised a mini break up north of the island (3 days of golf, 2 nights B&B, coaching etc) just to get some teaching experience. I started working with the local star who is trying to make it on the tour, Sebastian Garcia. He has played some European Tour events. It's mainly golf psychology lessons that he has but it is teaching nevertheless and he has played a few tour events. Guess that makes me a 'European Tour Coach'! Seriously though he has been talking me up for a few weeks now and most of the doors that were firmly closed are now ajar. I must join the APG (Spanish PGA) so I will go to Madrid in April. I'm not very happy about it but it will make life so much easier over here. The exciting news is I have taken over a custom making facility and Pro Shop in Santa Ponsa called 'Golf Fit'. I have a fully equipped Golfsmith workshop, a fair bit of stock and the retail outlet. I have been teaching on the premises using the "Vector" launch monitor and will soon be using my video camera here. I can only do my playing lessons at weekends but I am really enjoying teaching at the shop with the technology." Peter has just updated us with the news that he is now Head Professional at the Santa Ponsa Country Club & Spa. It has 1600 members and he has already got 12 kids signed up for the weekend Junior Academy. www.spcountryclub.com
