EGTF Professional Lee Tasker, at Pottergate Golf Club in Lincoln, held the first ever County under 12's event on Tuesday 19 August 2008 and it was a fantastic success.  It took an awful lot of hard work to put together, but in the end it was worth it.   Pottergate Golf Club Junior Organiser, George Wilkinson and Lee felt that there was very little for juniors under the age of 14 in Lincolnshire and so the idea for this event was born.  All of the juniors that attended are receiving County Coaching and play to varying handicaps.  Ashton Turner who plays to a 5 handicap was the lowest, and was recently selected for the under 14 Ryder Cup squad that competed in America and who is now ranked in the world's top 30 for his age.

The day was a real success with all the competitors looking forward to us organising the event for next year.  Not only did we hold a Stableford competition but we also held a short game challenge which consisted of pitching golf balls into paddling pools at various distances, a bunker challenge, and a game of snakes and ladders in which the competitors moved up or down the board depending on which square they pitched or chipped in to.  Also a putting competition and a nearest the pin on the Smart Golf Simulator.

Lee says, 'I was very pleased with the result of the competition with our own Alex Roberts claiming the Grass Roots Trophy; he has been a member of my academy for two years and is turning into a very good golfer.'

The presentation was attended by officials of the Lincolnshire Union of Golf Clubs and the English Golf Union.  To present the prizes we invited along one of our past Junior Captains who is now a regular first team player for the Lincoln City Football Club (Danny Hone).
