Bill Abbott has just taken hold of a new set of clubs from Orka Golf, with a view to testing them out. Bill says, "my initial thoughts after seeing them and hitting a few shots are that they look fabulous and the price bracket they are pitched in, makes them a fantastic bargain. Orka Golf are a new name in the golf industry, but they are looking to offer great products, an excellent fitting service and low prices. The custom fit options throughout the range of woods, hybrids, irons and wedges is very impressive, and something that is definitely needed in the mid-range price bracket. I am using the FK11 forged irons that are a cavity back club, but certainly look as good as higher priced clubs.
The feel of the irons is good and they seemed reasonably forgiving. They are aimed at the middle handicap golfer and below, and they should get a good following. The wedges also look extremely nice and now I have replaced the grips with my favoured release grips, the results I am getting are now much better.
I have been hitting the FK11 driver and hybrids, fitted with Aldila NVS shafts and they seem to be very good for flight and distance. It's always difficult when you have been used to another style of driver, but the head is a nice shape and it doesn't make a ridiculous sound off the face.
Certainly the custom fit options with the woods are very good and you should be able to find something for you or your students. These days where everything seems to be expensive, this company is a refreshing change, trying to offer quality products at reasonable prices."
