Welcome Page

Dear Members

We are heading into winter in Europe and the days and nights are drawing in and definitely getting colder.  It should be time to assess your season and start to plan for 2010, as any advantage you can get on the rest of the field will be of great help in these difficult economic times.

I am just back from the Thailand Pro Am which was a lovely event, where the weather, golf courses and people playing were absolutely fantastic.  You can read all about it in this edition of the magazine.

You will see from the list in this magazine that I will be putting on more CPD and Masters Courses for the members next year.  These are vital for any teaching professional regardless of how long they have been teaching, to ensure that your standards are kept up to the correct level for the people coming to you for lessons.  From a development point of view, have a look at your schedule and plan to get something booked for 2010, because knowledge is power.

Talking of CPD, have a look at the report from Falkirk, where Stewart Craig once again weaved his magic on some of the members over three fascinating days of extra learning.  You will also be able to read former golf journalist and Master Teaching Professional Martin Park's account of the week.

We have a new offer from Polaris World Resorts, who would like to offer some of their very nice hotel and golf courses to the EGTF members.  They have put together a good package to take groups there, and having played at a couple of the courses, I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised at the venues.

I would just like to wish everyone associated with the EGTF a very happy festive season and let's hope 2010 will be a better year for the golf industry.
