Welcome Page

Dear Members Welcome to the second online magazine for 2010 and I am sorry that it is a bit later to press than planned, but I've been very busy with work, which has put things back a bit. I'm not complaining though as it's good to be working! With the excitement of the Open Championship now over we can start to look at the second part of the year and what new challenges it will bring. Take a look at the 'News from our Members' page to see how some of the members are pushing themselves on to new and exciting ventures. I am sure only Louis Oosthuizen's mum backed him for the Open this year, but it just goes to show what self belief in your own ability can do for you. If you are struggling with your game or trying to find work in the teaching field, just keep pushing on because good things can happen if you work hard and keep believing in yourself. If you are looking for work, we have recently posted some job adverts on the Members' Only page of the EGTF website. Although the winter season is some way off just yet, planning golfing trips, social or business, needs to be done well in advance to ensure you get the best packages available. Two of the biggest companies for travel holidays in Spain are offering good, Pro use packages to take people to their resorts.
Polaris World resorts in Murcia, have 7 different venues, all with golf courses attached, hotels, villas and training facilities. The Polaris World team would be happy to discuss any packages you might have for the upcoming winter period, so don't delay.
We are also fortunate enough to have some contacts at the world class resort of La Manga Club, also in Murcia. This venue has received excellent reviews for many years and boasts three golf courses , tennis academy, football pitches and 5 star hotel. La Manga also have many good packages for bringing students to their facilities, but the resort does get very busy, so early bookings are advisable. For more information please contact the EGTF office.
Other areas of interest are the Pro Am days coming up in Scotland on 26 September and Thailand from 25 - 29 October. Also our excellent CPD week with one of the best teaching professionals around, Stewart Craig, will be from 27 - 29 September 2010.
We have just received information from Gavin Riddall at Albatross Golf Tours about next year's very popular EGTF Murcia Pro Am. Playing some lovely golf courses in a very pleasant climate is not a bad way to spend five days in February! Details can be found in this magazine or email Gavin info@albatrossgolftours.com
I am off to china very shortly , where I have been asked to go out and help set up some training programs for the emerging golf market. This is obviously a great opportunity for us at the EGTF to spread our wings even further and show the biggest population of people on earth the qualities of the EGTF teaching methods. I am convinced that there will be job opportunities for professional golf coaches in the near future, and I will keep you informed on my progress over there. Bill Abbott - Vice President
